Painted on commission, this was a fairly large (24x30) acrylic painting of a bunch of hydrangea flowers (Source photo credit: my mother). The photo was taken on portrait mode, so that the flowers in back appeared blurry, while those in the foreground look sharp and in focus. I loved this aspect of the photo, and feel I was able to recreate that same effect with the painting.
I also wavered between leaving the background white and painting it black. I'm glad I chose the latter option, as it really helps to make the flowers pop, and makes the blues and purples more vivid.
