I have been obsessed with the game of poker nearly all my life. Both of my grandmothers played, neither of whom ever cared to fold all that much. After moving to Los Angeles in 2001, I got even more serious about the game, eventually running a weekly 40-player home game, and participating annually in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. 

The first poker book I ever read was Super System, by Doyle Brunson, regarded by most as the Godfather of Poker. It was thanks to his insights and instruction that I was able to begin molding myself into a skilled poker player (my tournament winnings to date are in six figures). 

My friend Alex Outhred posted a photograph taken by his friend Rudy Carson, depicting Doyle signing Alex's arm during the Hall of Fame tournament at the WSOP. I loved the image so much that I asked if I could recreate it in pencil. 

Incidentally, this image was posted on Reddit and went semi-viral, garnering over 100,000 views and nearly 1,000 upvotes.
